Alicia Bayley

Alicia focuses on healthcare projects at SmithGroup, intrigued by how the industry continually identifies new processes and techniques to more effectively deliver built environments. “I’m always looking for ways to discover and support these new methods to improve health outcomes,” says Alicia. She is inspired by the people who use the buildings SmithGroup designs, she adds, and is especially honored to be working on her first project for the Veterans Administration. Alicia is a classical musician who grew up playing the viola and considered pursuing a music degree. “I couldn’t practice enough to be a professional musician, but fortunately there’s no limit to the amount of time I can spend drawing buildings,” she jokes. Alicia also spends plenty of time on her bike, cycling to work and exploring Detroit’s neighborhoods on the weekends. “We don’t go fast or far,” she says, “but bicycling allows me to explore the city at a pace where I can take it all in.”
