Laurie Lutkenhouse

“The dedicated care and thoughtfulness of design solutions are purposely meant to have a positive and memorable impact on its users,” says Laurie. Her love and passion for design started at a very early age, inspired by a middle school home economics instructor and a class in interior design, that piqued her interest and prompted Laurie to work in this industry. Having grown up in the Midwest she was intrigued with Frank Lloyd Wright and his ability to blend his exterior and interior design and materials. After moving to California and growing her own successful interiors company in Sacramento, today Laurie is a Senior Principal in SmithGroup’s Sacramento office. “I’m passionate about sustainable and inspiring interiors,” says Laurie. Her creative inspiration comes from nature and travel, “experiencing the spaces created by the design icons all over the world,” she explains.  Another creative outlet she has is winemaking. “I planted a small vineyard, harvest grapes and make Primitivo wine,” says Laurie, who was clearly destined to be a Californian.
