The Changing Workplace: What's Your Strategy?
Measuring return on workplace effectiveness.
Many factors contribute to the ever-changing workplace—technological advancements, economic and societal influences, evolving industry trends, to name a few. But what considerations drive workspace transformation? And how do organizations measure the effectiveness of these workplace implementations? These and other questions were discussed at SmithGroup’s Workplace Roundtable, an annual gathering that brings together corporate real estate executives, workplace strategists, facility directors and designers to discuss trends in workplace environments.
Three themes emerged from the discussion: the importance of identifying the need for a workplace transformation; the need to develop a change strategy that aligns workplace design with business drivers; and a desire to establish common industry-wide metrics to measure the success of workspace changes. The resulting paper, “The Changing Workplace: What’s Your Strategy?," summarizes panelists’ thoughts on managing the return on workplace transformation across the technology, manufacturing, consulting, research, and other industries.
