The commercial interior design industry is always evolving and demanding designers be “more creative, more sustainable and more economical,” reports Denge. It’s a challenge he readily accepts designing health and wellness facilities. He recalls one particularly rewarding hospital merger project, where he worked alongside a design and construction team for two years. “It transformed the campus, updating aged infrastructure, providing state-of the-art accommodations and creating a more welcoming environment for the patients,” Denge says. Projects that are part renovation and part new construction interest Denge, and he enjoys bringing his individual creativity to the table. “I personally really enjoy integrating lighting creatively to enhance the user experience,” he remarks. Gardening is another creative outlet. “My grandfather was a farmer and my mother maintained a beautiful garden. I’d like to think I may have gotten a bit of green thumb from them.”
