Don brings more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering and an infectious enthusiasm for sustainability and high-performance design to his role as Director of Engineering. "I’ve known what I wanted to do since I was 10 years old," he notes. "I can honestly say it’s even more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I just love the whole process of creating buildings." Many of the buildings Don has been involved with incorporate notable sustainable features such as renewable energy systems and rainwater harvesting capabilities; many have earned LEED Platinum or Net-Zero Energy Certification or received other prestigious design awards. Don thrives on the innovative atmosphere—and has appreciation for those innovators who came before him. He loves history and would like to travel to Egypt and explore its pyramids, ruins and museums. "That era of history really fascinates me, how the Egyptians brought civilization to a higher level without things like electricity," he remarks. Henry Ford also gets a special nod from Don. "He took a simple idea and with a passionate commitment to his vision changed the world as we know it."
