Nick Salowich

"I was sort of a late bloomer," suggests Nick, who notes that although he always liked to build things and draw, becoming an architect didn’t hit him until the latter part of his college career at Michigan State University. Thankfully, Nick’s decision has stuck for nearly three decades now, earning him a broad portfolio of projects in the higher education, healthcare, research and workplace markets. His resume includes work at several Michigan universities, leading projects as varied as research centers at Michigan State, a nuclear reactor building renovation at the University of Michigan and the renovation of a 1920s automobile dealership into a biomedical research lab for Wayne State. Nick, who also part led a 50-person development team for the MGM CityCenter in Las Vegas, says the variety of his work suits his curious nature. "I’ve always been interested in science," he suggests, "and my role as Science & Technology Studio leader allows me to stay connected to science in ways I never thought possible. Being able to shape the facilities in which this fascinating work occurs is a very fulfilling endeavor."
