A company that specializes in visual communications needs its office to be as visually stimulating as what it creates. It also needs a space that retains the intimate creative energy of its work while providing the flexibility and amenities that support growth, evolution and an efficient workflow.
Gravillis Inc., a boutique firm for the entertainment industry, had outgrown its 750-SF studio where it began its operations and was looking to expand into a mid-century office space that was 10 times larger.
Our team led the design of the interiors to create a space that was not only flexible and functional but matched the firm’s identity. The resulting space is a physical manifestation of Gravillis’ mission and foundational character, blending transparency with bold colors, and interior spaces with outdoor areas.
At the office’s center, glass walls and an open library create a crossroads between the design studio and the project manager’s suite. The entire office is energized by strong accent colors, bold textures, and a large hand-painted mural punctuated by the firm’s philosophies “Art will continue” and “Made for Designers”. The design studio opens to an exterior terrace which provides opportunities to gather as a team, host clients and events, while continuing a long tradition in Southern California architecture of removing barriers between indoors and out. Arcade games, a ping pong table and use of interesting materials reflect a playful culture.
Together, this layering of colors, ideas, textures and materials build on Gravillis’ brand identity and create a lively space to inspire creativity.
