Design Innovation for Timeless Appeal 
Looking out to the Pacific Ocean, the design of Mintz Law Firm’s new San Diego workplace draws inspiration from the office’s breathtaking views of mountains to the east and Torrey Pines State National Reserve – a wilderness island in an urban sea – to the west. The building’s uniquely curved exterior is echoed through a series of sculptural gestures and elements of delight throughout the office, emphasizing curves and introducing forms that add a level of sophistication, elevated experience and function of the space.  

As elevator doors open, visitors step into an elegantly refined lobby that intuitively guides guests into a light-filled reception area and towards a gently curved circulation path that arcs along the window line. This signature promenade culminates in a collection of interconnected conference and gathering spaces that double as an immersive hospitality setting, blurring the line between workplace and hosted experience while supporting visibility, mentorship and engagement. 

The space includes a custom designed island to perch at by day, transforming into a hospitality bar after hours. It is ideal for daily use or more luxe entertaining purposes, with a premium coffee station, an array of soft seating options and modular glass-walled meeting spaces that can be reconfigured to host small-to-large-scale industry and community events.  

Premium finishes, thoughtful execution, design-driven lighting and gallery space for the firm’s eclectic art collection enhance the office’s refined setting, which is as versatile as it is beautiful.   

Optimizing Privacy and Safety 
Confidentiality and security are cornerstones of the legal profession. Designers took critical steps to ensure that employees, clients and sensitive information are always protected: 

• Private offices are thoughtfully planned and outfitted with high-performance materials designed to safeguard conversations and mitigate the transference of sound.  
• Centrally located conference and training rooms are enclosed with double glazing to provide acoustic privacy while maintaining clear sightlines.  
• Advanced security measures are thoughtfully integrated throughout the office, creating a secure environment for clients and staff while maintaining a refined and welcoming aesthetic. 

Designing Spaces to Enhance the Employee Experience 
This full-service renovation creates an intuitive, modern workplace where amenities nurture well-being, encourage connection and elevate the workplace experience. 

A palette of organic architectural forms; muted greens, blues and warm earth tones; and wood textures were used throughout to reflect the office’s outdoor surroundings and provide employees with an inviting and restorative workspace. The design creates a professionally polished feel enhanced by thoughtfully curated elements that add delight and intrigue. One feature that employees rave about is the dedicated in-office drop-off station designed to accommodate food and beverage deliveries and simplify the pick-up process. 

The listening lounge is another unexpected and especially unique space that has become a favorite gathering spot among employees and their clients. Concealed behind a hidden wall panel, the team turned what would have been unnoticed and unused space from a former legal records room into a speakeasy style lounge. Midcentury modern décor, vibrant orange and deep green hues, layers of soft lighting and curated books, décor and LPs come together to create a memorable hidden destination where the firm’s culture and social ecosystem is not simply expressed but experienced.
