Andrew Broderick

Driven by a lifelong fascination with cities, Andrew has built a career around shaping places that improve quality of life. “As a child, I created fictional cities and drew maps by taping sheets of paper together,” he recalls. That early passion evolved into a profession focused on understanding the complexities, innovations, and possibilities of the built environment. Guided by urbanist and historian Lewis Mumford’s observation that “each generation writes its own biography in the cities it creates,” Andrew approaches urban design as both a creative pursuit and a civic responsibility. His work focuses on complex urban planning and development challenges, helping clients and communities translate ambitious visions into strategies for investment, implementation, resilience and long-term impact. His projects range from downtowns and neighborhoods to districts, corridors, and large-scale developments. “Cities are layered systems, and the best solutions come from an integrated, interdisciplinary approach,” he notes. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys exploring urban places, history, and geography, and lives with his family on Chicago’s North Side, where walkability and vibrant neighborhood life are part of his everyday experience.
