Andrew Mannion
“I strive for simple design solutions to complex problems,” says Andrew, “casting the widest net possible for solutions and inspiration.” He professes to look for inspiration “everywhere and in everything,” including learning about the potential application of new science and new materials. London’s Stanstead Airport stands out to him as an early example of a building that “elegantly solves a number of technical challenges.” So does the GM Design Center West Studio Building, which Andrew is proud to have been the architectural design lead on. “Our team seamlessly coordinated many client driven technical and performance requirements to create a flexible building platform that accommodates current and future needs,” he notes. Andrew also appreciates the functional design solution of the multi-tool—a device he keeps at the ready for on-demand daily tasks and forays outdoors.
