At Loyola University’s Center for Translational Research, scientists conduct research that can then be immediately taken to a clinical environment and administered to patients. The facility fosters scientific collaboration and optimizes discovery and interdisciplinary linkages, making it one of the most advanced medical laboratories of its kind.

The new 227,000-square-foot LEED Gold-certified facility houses more than 100 principal investigators in open, shared laboratories and support spaces that provide flexibility for a wide range of science and research disciplines.

Centrally located core labs provide space for comparative medicine, genomics, imaging and flow cytometry, making for not only a dynamic lab environment, but one that supports scientific discovery and collaboration.
In addition to lab functions, the Center for Translational Research also features a 250-seat amphitheater and a 90-seat lecture hall to accommodate academic and public programs. SmithGroup designers provided programming, lab planning, fit-out and civil engineering services in conjunction with core and shell and interior architect, Solomon Cordwell and Buenz (SCB).
