Robert Doyle
Bob muses that a career in art photography would also have been interesting, or perhaps community-based social work. He manages to fold aspects of both into his prolific career as senior landscape architect. Bob routinely taps into his interests in art and nature, of course, and his social skills come into play as a superb community facilitator. Bob also spent more than a decade working in the mining, home building and development industries so is able to deftly lead the way through complex permitting, land reclamation, environmental clean-up and redevelopment issues. No wonder one of his favorite projects is Michigan’s Port Huron waterfront. "We are helping to create a fantastic recreational resource, restore degraded aquatic, riparian and wetland habitat, and visually improve a former industrial waterfront," he remarks. "It’s a great example of how SmithGroup blends science, sustainability and design."
