Xin Zong
As a senior structural engineer at the Detroit office, Xin frequently works on some of the firm’s largest, most complex projects. A few of them also happen to be her personal favorites: Serving as project structural engineer on the 300,000-square-foot Biological Science Building at the University of Michigan, Xin was pleased when the steel contractor called the structural drawings for the project some of the best they had seen. "My favorite type of projects are the innovative ones, the ones that are the designer’s dream come true—because of the help of the structural engineer!" she quips. Xin earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and structural engineering in China, then added another master’s in materials engineering from the University of Michigan. When it’s time to take her mind off work, you can find Xin running and birdwatching in nature.
